A really interesting look into the 5-year progression of the Netflix mailer. I love the practical design decisions, the trial and error experimentation, the minor details (like a little hole to keep the packages from inflating on airplanes) that make a big difference. Neat stuff. [via DF]

Post from 37signals - caught my eye before i got to reading DF. Revolution on the micro scale - but I still think the UK methods have it better... wrapping with perforated edges.

The second barcode - one at the end - (or the 'secret sauce') is quite possibly a US Mail PostNet barcode, to simplify the delivery via USPS...
